Prosimo Wraps Stellar Opening Quarter with Significant Momentum
With CRN Awards, Google, Verizon, and AWS Relationships, and F500 Customer Traction, Prosimo Gains Significant Traction in Multi-Cloud Networking Market
We started Prosimo to help customers better and more simply navigate the multi-cloud world. This opportunity first became clear when we worked with the CIOs and senior executives of customers at Viptela and Cisco — we saw plainly the challenges that these companies were encountering, as well as their frustration at a lack of any real solutions to overcome them. We built Prosimo to solve these challenges directly, and our work with cutting-edge companies in the space was instrumental for how we built the AXI platform.
The multi-cloud infrastructure challenges that enterprises face are mostly linked to them (and their vendors) taking traditional networking approaches and bringing them into multi-cloud environments. While such approaches work initially, they fall apart with complexity and scale — the two hallmarks of multi-cloud networking. At Prosimo we use a different approach, focusing on layer 7 application endpoints & user identities, rather than layer 3 networking, with a vertically integrated infrastructure stack. This allows us to completely circumvent many traditional networking challenges in multi-cloud environments while improving performance and security at the same time.
For enterprises, multi-cloud can be as simple as using one cloud provider in more than one region, or as complicated as using multiple cloud providers in regions across the world. Regardless, enterprises face challenges at every step of this journey — we’ve identified 9 distinct stages — from connecting the data center to a cloud region, to performing advanced application networking across cloud regions in a modern service mesh. In general, layer 3 approaches to these challenges are severely limited, because of the lack of information that can be processed at that level (limited to IP address, ports, and protocols). Cloud already operates on application, service-endpoints & identities - we have aligned well to work at that layer. This allows for not only better performance and security, but an overall simpler architecture that better meets the needs of multi-cloud.
Using this approach, we’ve had early success with numerous companies that are at the forefront of multi-cloud. NielsenIQ, Flexport, and OwnBackup talked about the benefits of cloud-native and multi-cloud transformation in a recent fireside chat-style webinar. Moreover, we are constantly working with CIOs, cloud providers, and customers to take a strategic, data-led approach to understand customer challenges and evolving our offerings. We recently released one set of these data learnings in our twice-annual State of Multi-Cloud Infrastructure Report. In all, we want to empower our customers with information to make the multi-cloud journey as simple and seamless as possible.
Gartner Market Guide, CRN 2021 Emerging Vendor, Hottest Networking Startups List of 2021, and Golden Bridge Award
We’ve also received critical validation from external industry voices. For instance, we recently were recognized by CRN as a “2021 Emerging Vendor” in the Cloud Category. This list, per CRN, “honors new and up-and-coming technology vendors that have proven their commitment to innovation and growth within the larger IT channel.” Moreover, CRN states that, “With a commanding grasp of the IT industry’s unique needs, technology vendors featured on the CRN 2021 Emerging Vendors list allow solution providers to tackle complex IT market challenges, increase bottom-line revenue across the board, and deliver customer-facing solutions that ensure the IT channel’s ongoing success well into the future.”
This validation also comes with the recent recognition of Prosimo, also by CRN, as one of the Hottest Networking Startups of 2021. In that short list, CRN described Prosimo as an enterprise infrastructure disruptor that “modernizes and simplifies application delivery and experience across platforms in a multi-cloud environment” and is “focused on collapsing multi-cloud networking, security, and application performance.”
Meanwhile, our conversations with analysts have been very positive and productive. For instance, Prosimo was recently included in the 2021 Gartner Market Guide for Cloud Networking Software. The guide states that, “...a market is emerging to address ‘inside the cloud’ and multi-cloud networking challenges, as there are notable gaps from existing vendors. I&O leaders should look to cloud networking software products to address functionality gaps and improve operations within cloud and multi-cloud environments.”
Prosimo was also recently recognized as a winner in the 2021 Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards, organized by the Globee Awards, in the Cloud Computing/SaaS Innovation category. The Golden Bridge Awards honor achievement and recognition in business and innovations worldwide.
These recognitions are key early validation that our unique approach to multi-cloud is indeed a disruptive and transformative one in the IT industry.
Ecosystem Growth: Google Cloud Partnership and Verizon Alliance
At the same time, our ecosystem of tier-1 cloud and edge partners is growing rapidly — a sign that cloud-first service providers recognize and endorse the need for layer 7 approaches to multi-cloud.
For instance, We recently announced a partnership with Google Cloud, which will help organizations and Google customers modernize their IT infrastructure and deliver faster, more secure application experience at the edge. With this partnership, we allow enterprises to take advantage of Google Cloud components like Anthos, AI, and ML, as well as Google’s Global edge network, closer to the location of users and applications.
Prosimo also has a working relationship with Verizon to help Verizon customers simplify how they manage multi-cloud infrastructure and transform application access in the cloud. With this relationship, organizations can accelerate cloud adoption, enable hybrid workplaces, and modernize application delivery.
Finally, Prosimo is also an Amazon AWS ecosystem partner. I recently was quoted in an AWS blog discussing the AWS approach to network transformation, and specifically why organizations are increasingly embracing cloud providers like AWS as cloud backbones and network hub.
Onward and upward
We are thrilled by this early growth and validation we have received since our public launch in April 2021. As we continue to grow our customer pipeline with Fortune 500 companies and tier-1 service providers, we are excited to build on this momentum and help enterprises at every stage of their journey to multi-cloud. While it is still early in our company trajectory, we are heartened to see such a positive early response from customers, partners, and the IT industry at large, and we are excited to share more updates in the coming weeks and months! Stay tuned for more!
